NHS & Private Dentistry

The new NHS dental contract came into force on the 1st of April 2006. All dentists must now have a contract with their local Health Board in order to be able to provide an NHS service to their patients. These contracts have limitations on the number of UDA’s (units of dental activity) that can be carried out by each practice/dentist. It consists of 3 Bands of treatment, each with set criteria, only treatments that are considered clinically necessary, are carried out.

The introduction of the new contract means that only a fixed number of treatments can be carried out and are there to treat and maintain “dental and oral health “but do not take into account any cosmetic appearance, needs, requirements or desires.

Cosmetic treatments, for example tooth whitening, veneers, white fillings etc are available privately. Private fees are governed by a variety of factors, such as whether your practitioner is a specialist or consultant, the complexity of the treatment and the time taken to complete it.

Any treatment plan we propose will include a quote or written estimate of the costs.

Financial considerations should not be an obstacle to a beautiful and healthy smile. Therefore, our practice offers a wide range of payment options. Financing with no initial payment can often be arranged.
